Parkinsons disease – PD warrior and Boxing classes

In Australia 1 in every 100 people over the age of 60 years old will develop Parkinson’s disease (PD) and this disease can bring on feelings of hopelessness and severely impact a person’s independence without the appropriate medical intervention.

The evidence is astounding that exercise is a key element in this treatment to prevent rapid negative neurological progression of the PD. Exercise is essential for all people of all ages for functional, cardiac, metabolic, bone and mental health. Parkinson’s leads to a loss of automatic task generation, tasks we take for granted such as walking and talking, become impossible as the basal ganglia degenerates.

PD warrior is a group-based exercise program and a game changer in preventing this negative progression. A proven exercise- based therapy that grows your brain by stimulating neuroplasticity and can maintain or even regress PD symptoms.

Our clinical exercise physiologists are up to date with this ground-breaking treatment and fully equipped to provide an effective, fun and understanding exercise treatment to improve your quality of life. Come join us! PD warrior is a licensed program and is only available through trained therapists who operate under the PD warrior license.

Parkinsons Disease and Boxing

There has been some evidence that boxing programs have also been proven beneficial for those trying to stave off the negative effects of PD. At Mitchell Integrated Therapy we have introduced a boxing circuit class to complement our already well support PD warrior class.
